Glass Beam
Presented & published at IASS 2015 Symposium
University of Michigan
2012-14
Description: This study looks at the structural performance of a sample composite glass beam (considered as one strip of the glass panel), through structural simulation and experimental study. It studies how different glass types, namely annealed and tempered glass, fail under loading. In addition, it correlates the simulation and experimental results. More importantly, the study provides the researcher with some evidence of the composite panel’s advanced structural behavior under demanding load conditions and verifies the actual strength of the glass beam in bending, towards the potential for its application in large scale buildings.
