Topological Interlocking Sunscreens
Louisiana State University
2019
Description: The intent of this project is to design and prototype a sunscreen made of topological interlocking blocks. The screen is a self-standing structure and will not be attached to another structure. Thus, each row should support the weight of the blocks on top of it. Both sides of the screen are exposed to pedestrians and it should allow view from one side to the other. Also, it should provide lateral resistance. The topological interlocking blocks are aggregated without using any mortar. One module needs to be designed to then be aggregated to make an assembly.
